Jazz Lovers have used the expertise of Manchester website company UKFast to help bring their music to a larger audience.

UKFast has created a website which allows people to listen to performances by North West Jazz musicians as well as get information on bands and performance dates.

It was decided to launch the website after a report revealed the best way to increase appreciation of jazz was to create a healthy Internet community.

Lucy Power, who was commissioned by regional development organisation North West Jazz Works to work with UKFast to create the new website, said: "I don't believe jazz has to be an inaccessible art form. The Internet is the best tool the industry has to encourage interest not only in playing the music, but listening to it as well. The new website will be a central platform for promoting jazz music, bringing together users from across the region."

Lawrence Jones of UKFast said: "We've created the first dedicated jazz MP3 player offering free downloads of North West talent. The site also allows bands and musicians to place their profiles online in a dynamic diary of events. The region has n eclectic mix of jazz performers and the public simply don't know how to access this talent."

UKFast's involvement with the website combines business and pleasure for Lawrence. His first business, Music Design Company, was the North West's premier musicians' agency, before he and his clients were snapped up by Granada Media Group.

UKFast has done work for a number of well-known names including Dolland and Aitchison, Royal Sun Alliance and Littlewoods.

It also has extensive experience of building community sites in the North West and is responsible for developing and hosting Youth Sports site Ourkidssports.com, Manchester's Airportinsider.com and the website of the Sale Sharks rugby team.
