![]() The rail, retail and recruitment sectors provide the finalists in the hunt for Manchester's Director of the Year. Vernon Barker, managing director of train operator TransPennine Express, Alan White, chief executive of home shopping giant N Brown, and Neil Smith, boss of Kinetic, which provides recruitment, pay roll and human resource services, are in the running for the Institue of Directors' accolade. It is a matter of keeping up with the Jones in the race to be crowned the city's young director of the year. Lawrence Jones, managing director of internet company UKFast, and Phil Jones, sales and marketing chief at Audenshaw's Brother UK, are on the shortlist along with Kieron Barton, marketing director of Stockport beer importer Chilli Marketing, and Terry Bland, MD of software firm Godel Technologies Europe. The finalists for Cheshire's director of the year are Warrington-based Rob Crossland, of outsourcing business Parasol, Dylan Thwaites, chief executive of latitude Group, a search engine marketing company, and Robert Davis, of Chesher's EA Technology. Nick Porter, of events firm Fresh, Marc Duschenes, chief executive of Hale-Barnes property fund manager Braemar Group, and Robert Leggett, of Altrincham company Omni Resource Management solutions, are in the running for the country's young director prize. The IoD has had a record number of nominations for this year's awards, which will be presented next month. | |
