Internet hosting firm UKFast.Net, Manchester City Council and property developer Ask:Goodman have teamed up to build an internet exchange that uses green technology to minimise its carbon emissions.

The centre will generate some of its own renewable energy and low-power computers will also be used. The facility should be operational by the second half of 2008.
