Over 700 of the North West's business elite gathered at the IoD North West Director of the Year Awards in Manchester to see Lawrence Jones, managing director of UKFast, win the coveted Institute of Directors title Young Director of the Year.

Hosted by Sir Trevor MacDonald OBE at the City of Manchester Stadium, the ceremony recognised the most dynamic individuals who have used their expertise and experience to develop their company, community and industry.

From the outset Jones' emphasis has been on providing reliable space for businesses to host their websites on the Internet. UKFast, only 8 years old already boasts an impressive client list hosting some of the biggest sites on the web. Offering a truly customer-focused and hands on approach that is unprecedented in the technology sector UKFast are rapidly eating into the market share. The accolade is proof that by concentrating on performance, reliability and care his vision is both achievable and effective.

"It is an honour to win such a prestigious award in such great company," says Jones. "I am extremely flattered and I have to thank those around me for making this possible. I am only able to achieve an award like this thanks to a very diligent and passionate team who work tirelessly alongside me."

Today his company UKFast is the nation's 'Best Hosting Provider' for businesses on the Internet. The ISP has won the industry trophy for the last three years and recently picked up BP and Phillips. Lawrence Jones also commended directors Neil Lathwood, Jonathan Bowers and Gail Jones his wife and cofounder, describing them as the "back bone of his enterprise."
