![]() Guinness Premiership giants Sale Sharks have announced their new main sponsor as UKFast in the largest deal in the club's history. The partnership renews a commitment to nurturing the next generation of North West rugby talent. In accelerating the relationship to become main sponsor UKFast will continue to place an emphasis on in-house youth training camps and offers junior teams across the country the chance to come and meet the Sharks and watch them play. A successful tag tournament through the 2008/09 season gave 21 youth teams the chance to play toward a final at Edgeley Park during half-time of the last game of the season. All Blacks star Luke McAlister and UKFast's MD Lawrence Jones then handed out the winners trophies. As UKFast also individually sponsors Sharks players Charlie Hodgson and Lee Thomas, the programme provides the opportunity for young players to meet and pick up playing tips from their heroes. "The Sale Sharks are an international club with a strong community ethos. Our grass roots programmes are very important to us," says Nathan Bombrys, Sale Sharks' commercial director. "UKFast shares our passion to support rugby development and with a position as our new main sponsor is ideally placed to help take our community outreach to new heights." "At UKFast we are proud of our local area and are committed to supporting good causes in the community," enthuses UKFast MD Lawrence Jones. "We are also big rugby fans, so it was a natural development to pool our resources with the Sharks to support grass roots rugby in the North West." "To date the programme has been very popular with many youngsters getting a fantastic introduction to the game and now that UKFast is the main club sponsor of the Sharks we hope to expand it even further." | |
