![]() UKFast, the ambitious Manchester web hosting company, says it has pulled off its own transfer coup. The City Tower-based group, led by entrepreneur Lawrence Jones, has hired the head of sales from its major competitor in a move which will accelerate its growth plan. Andrew Gibbens has moved north from London to join UKFast from Rackspace, which is market leader in the managed hosting sector. Mr Gibbens said he was attracted to Manchester by the energy and passion at UKFast. His appointment is understood to be the first of a number of key additions to the management team. He said "UKFast has good solid British values and strong ethics surrounding service and quality. I'm looking forward to playing my part in taking us to the top." While at Rackspace, which recently floated in New York, he helped drive growth in its European business from £5m turnover to £60m. UKFast MD Lawrence Jones said: "We have set our sights on £18m turnover in 2009 and signing a key team player who has achieved this already with one of the industry heavyweights gives us the firm belief that we will meet our target." Mr Jones, launched the company in 1999 and now employs 65 people. | |
