Advertising tool HotRecorder targets VoIP

A new tool will allow advertisers to reach voice-over-internet telephone users, while providing the user with services such as voice greetings and records of conversations.

The new product is called HotRecorder, an online advertising unit that doubles as a recorder of Skype and other VoIP conversations.

Users download HotRecorder, which will then start up every time they access their VoIP programme. It will display an ad message within a dialogue window, as well as giving the user access to tools to record, store, search, play back or send via email conversations and conference calls.

The version containing ads will be available for free, while a paid-for version will contain no ads. HotRecorder has been developed by online advertising technology firm United Virtualities.

Mookie Tenembaum, founder and CEO of United Virtualities, said: "We are rapidly moving into an era of consumer control over when and how they see the commercial messages.

"HotRecorder rewards the user's time spent exposed to the ad message with helpful tools they might not otherwise have."
