Google delivers downtime info

Google has fulfilled its promise to keep customers better information of outages in its service. The search engine giant has introduced a new dashboard for Google Applications.

This feature arrived just days after a two hour worldwide outage to Gmail. The application went down due to a coding problem.

Last year Google announced its intentions to inform customers more about issues after several outages in August 2008.

Google's new dashboard shows a list of applications with a green tick if the service is up.

If there is a disruption the dashboard will show a yellow wrench, a red cross represents an outage, and a blue "i" is the icon for more information.

The service will be available to subscribers of Google apps and also has an RSS feed.
