Google looking for gourmet chefs

Google Inc. is looking for a couple of gourmet chefs to help satisfy the appetites of its employees, who are served free meals of ahi tuna, pork loin steak, eggplant ratatouille and other fancy delights.

The search-engine giant said Thursday it wants to hire two executive chefs to manage the preparation of thousands of meals each day at the company Mountain View, Calif., headquarters.

Candidates, however, will have to do more than grill burgers and make French fries. A menu sample posted on Google's blog reveals a list of delectable foods not seen since the dot-com era, including ahi tuna and avocado poke, vegetarian tamale casserole and seared day boat scallops in green coconut curry sauce.

"These two chefs will play an important role in managing the company's growing appetites," Sergey Brin, president and co-founder of Google, said in a statement.

Top candidates for the jobs will be invited to Google headquarters to prepare a meal for the "tasting committee," with the four finalists competing in a Google Chef Cook-Off, the company said.
