ISPA warns on choosing an ISP

Net users have been warned not to be suckered into signing up to an ISP just because they're cheap.

Instead, punters need to consider other matters such as customer service and network performance, said the UK's Internet trade body ISPA.

In a survey of some 450 net users a third said they chose their ISP based on the price of the service, while a quarter said service performance was more important than the price they paid.

"It is concerning that customers seem to prioritise price over quality when selecting their ISP," said ISPA boss Jessica Hendrie-Liaņo.

"ISPA has always stated that customers should not select an ISP by price alone.

"Customers should look closely at what is offered by ISPs and decide what they and others using the Internet actually need to enjoy the 'net to the full. Ultimately you get what you pay for," she said.
