Andy Stanford-Clark, a computer engineer, has connected his home to Twitter so he can tweet about his electricity and water consumption.
Andy, 43, has fitted wireless sensors onto household items in his 16th Century thatched cottage on the Isle of Wight.
With some speciallly written software these sensors feed information to a central hub that translates into words a sensor notification.
This then tells Andy through his mobile phone what has happened - eg. the boiler has switched on.
His aim is to help his family become more eco-friendly and reduce energy consumption at home.
Nonetheless, Stanford-Clark reportedly claimed to have already cut his electricity consumption by one third since installing his Twitter technology.
