One in 20 Make Email Gaffe at Work

A survey has revealed that one in 20 people has got into trouble at work for sending inappropriate emails.

The research, which was carried out to mark the DVD release of Going Postalhas revealed that inappropriate jokes and angry messages sent to the wrong people are some of the more common email gaffes that have lead to office workers being reprimanded.

25 per cent of those questioned reported that they had sent an inappropriate email in the heat of the moment, and almost a third said they had accidentally hit "reply all" instead of "reply".

Of the 2,000 people surveyed, almost 1 in 10 admitted they had mistakenly sent an email criticising a colleague to the person they were insulting. The survey also highlighted that men were more likely to make an error with their emails than women, with 28 per cent admitting to sending an ill-judged message, compared to 17 per cent of women.
