Supermarkets are giving website customers a ‘dismal’ service a test has found. Given a 33-item shopping list, none of the five top online supermarkets could find everything.
On top of this, only one – Waitrose – could deliver the next day, says The Grocer magazine.
Tesco (£5.99 delivery) managed 33 items after two days but that included two substitutes. At Sainsbury’s (£5), it was two days and four subs.
Asda (£3.99) took three days – and called early, when the customer was out. A spokesman for The Grocer said: ‘It’s a dismal picture for just five weeks ahead of Christmas.’
