UK's largest free wi-fi network hosted by McDonalds

McDonald's is rolling out a free high-speed wireless internet across nearly 1,200 restaurants from Monday.

The move will make the fast-food giant the UK's biggest provider of free wireless internet access.

Steve Easterbrook, the president and chief executive officer of McDonald's Restaurants, said the venture would ‘further enhance our customers' experience when they visit us'.

‘More people than ever are looking to access the internet on the move, whether it's on their laptops, mobile phones, PDAs or even games consoles, and free access in our restaurants will provide a quick and convenient way for them to do this,' he added.

McDonald's estimates that a regular hotspot user who pays to log on for just an hour a week in a coffee shop could stand to save as much as £260 per year on premium WiFi charges by using its free service.
