YouTube Videos to be Featured by Guggenheim


The iconic New York art museum, The Guggenheim is looking to produce a new feature based on YouTube videos.

The online video streaming service announced today that it will be collaborating with the art gallery on a project which has been dubbed 'YouTube Play.'

The project will be made up of user-generated videos from various genres and will be featured in an online experiment as well as the Guggenheim museums in New York, Bilbao, Berlin and Venice.

YouTube users will be invited to submit videos until the end of July, and the exhibit itself is due to open on the 21st October.

YouTube's senior marketing manager Ed Sanders said in a posting on the official company blog, that the contest was intended to be a sign of the way in which YouTube has grown.

Sanders stated, "In five years, YouTube has redefined media culture by changing the way the world creates, distributes and watches video."

He continued, "Online video is exploding not just as a medium, but as an art form, and we're proud of the originality and innovation that YouTube has fostered among our users."
